On my first day of school, I woke up feeling exhausted as I hadcome home late after tuition the night before. Upon regaining myconsciousness, I quickly jumped into the hot shower to wake myself upfully. In the blink of an eye, I finished my daily routine and my feet slidinto my brand new sparkling white school shoes. Feeling butterflies inmy stomach, I hugged my mum goodbye and lied blatantly to her thatI would be fine on my first day at school.Walking clumsily with my heavy bag on my back, I headedtowards the bus stop. When I reached the bus stop, I scanned the arealooking for any familiar students wearing the same uniform as me. Tomy surprise, I saw a Chinese boy grinning at me. We exchangedsmiles and started to chat after a while. We boarded the bus when itarrived. The bus was filled with school children who were obviouslyexcited about going back to school again after their long Decemberbreak.When I reached the school, I saw a sky blue building which stood talland majestic before my eyes. There in the school compound, I noticedthat students had gathered in clusters or scattered aimlessly aroundthe different corners.It occurred to me then that in such a place of learning, wouldthere be more school work given as compared to my primary school?Then I was reminded of my uncle’s words to me a couple of nightsback. My uncle was a pioneer from Woodlands Secondary School andhe had reassured me then that there would be many thrilling andexciting CCAS available in Woodlands Secondary school when Iexpressed to him my anxieties. In addition, he added that my school isa renowned school in the north and I should be proud to be a studentin this school. My uncle’s encouraging smile comforted me somewhatand I decided to not fret anymore. After the singing of the national anthem, the principal introducedus to all the teachers and staff. I listened attentively to she said. Afterwhich, we were brought to our classroom and we met our formteacher, Mr Tay for the first time.Mr Tay is a friendly and jovial person and he started the sessionby orientating us to the new environment and his expectations.As I listened to him, I supposed that the rest of my future willunfold itself to me shortly. For now, I want to enjoy all the good times
