1.
PresidentHitchcockhasinvitedyou
to
bastagrandopening/ribbon
cutting
of
theCenter
for
FunctionalGenomicsat
the
EastCampus.Youprovideda
$5
milliongrantforthisproject
in
1999.
Theceremonyis
planned
formid-September.More
detailswill
follow.
2.The
plannedlandpurchasefortheEastGreenbushIncubatorisnotmovingasquickly
as
webadhoped.Uponconsummation
of
theleaseon
the
GardenwayfacilitytotheComputerScienceCorporation,Gardeowayenteredintonegotiationstoselltheir18acreparcelandtheCSCleasetoaninvestmentgroupwhobastheoptiontobuy
theproperty.
The
dealisexpectedtoclose
the
weekofJuly10.PresidentHitchcockunderstandshowimportantthisprojectis,buttheUniversityhas
to
restartnegotiationswiththenewowners.TheUniversitybelievesthenewownersareonlyinterestedinthepropertyasaninvestmentandtaxshelterandfeelconfidentthatthepropertywillbemadeavailabletotheUniversity.
However,
complicationsandpriceconcernscouldarise.ThenegotiationsfortheCarpinelloIcepropertyhavebeendelayedbecauseoffamilyconcernsaboutsellinglandwbicbhasbeeninthefamilyforgenerationsandtbefamily'sfocusonafamilymemberwhohasbeenexperiencingseriousmedicalproblems.

AlbanyMedicalCentertopackage
a
Biomedical/BiotechologyInitiativewhichtheyhopetopresentforfundingthis
fall.
Bringing
RPI
intothecollaborationisalsobeingpursued,butthe
SUNY
Albany/Albany
Medical
Centereffortismoreadvanced.4.Finally,thelaborissuebetweentheMarriotCorporation,thecurrentFoodServiceProvider

Albanyappearstoberesolvingitself.Bymutualagreement,theUniversity
of
AJbyhasterminateditscontractwithMarriotandwillcboosebetweentwopossibleproviderswithinday.Thetwopossibleprovidersexpecttobeapproachedbytheunionandbotharewillingtowork
