Bill Gusky grew up in northern St. Louis County and western Connecticut. He completed his bachelor's degree at Pratt Institute where he studied under Rudolf Baranik, Cyrilla Mozenter and Richard Pugliese. While studying he also assisted in the studios of artist Marcia Hafif and artist/explorer Reid Stowe. Gusky’s MFA was earned at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where he studied and consulted with a number of artists of critical importance including Thomas Nozkowski, Polly Apfelbaum and Louise Fishman. Through his online publication Artblog Comments (http://artblogcomments...) Gusky details his cultural observations, mental reckonings with contemporary art issues, updates on developments in his own work, book reviews, and reviews of exhibitions in galleries and museums in New York, Boston, and Connecticut. Artblog Comments is linked to by many prominent art blogs including Tyler Green’s Modern Art Notes and Edward Winkleman. Among numerous distinctions Gusky was awarded an Emerging Artist Grant from the St. Botolph Club Foundation, served as artist-in-residence at a Shaker museum in New Hampshire, served on a panel of distinguished art blog writers held at a Chelsea gallery, written by invitation for exhibitions and artist catalogs, and performed in videos by artists Megan and Murray McMillan and Tim O'Donnell.
