Ater reading this inormation, two Blackpool parents contacted Cerebra and have been successul inapplying or a Wills and Trusts Voucher. Just a reminder i you are interested in attending a seminar inBlackpool about Wills and Trusts please contact Nicola Unsworth, Planning Record Co-ordinator.Ater a successul pilot scheme in 2007, Cerebra have continued the Wills and Trust Voucher Schemeinto 2008. The voucher is worth up to £350 towards the cost o a solicitor preparing a will anddiscretionary trust to make provision or your child’s uture. Your child must have a brain-relatedcondition, be aged 16 or under and be receiving the Middle or High Rate o the Care Component o Disability Living Allowance (DLA).I you are interested in an application or more inormation, please email alex@cerebra.org.uk ortelephone 0800 328 1159.
During the summer holidays the Blackpool Carers Centre, in partnership with BlackpoolAdvocacy, ran a range o trips and activities to give young people a break rom theircaring responsibilities. This included trips to the Sandcastle, Camelot, WinmarleighHall, Blackpool Tower, Megazone, Grizedale Forest, the Odeon and Blackpool Zoo. Wealso held a three day residential at Lakeside YMCA, where the young people took part in climbing, canoeing, abseiling, rating and a variety o team-building exercises. Through the generous support o the Hilton Hotel, we have also been able to supporta young carer to undertake a diving course as part o his Duke o Edinburgh award. Wealso supported another youngcarer to take part in a ootballtournament in Sheeld withBlackpool Football Club, wherehe received a medal or nishingtop scorer in the tournament.I you know someone under18 who is helping to look atersomeone at home and you think that they would benet rom theproject, contact Caroline or Nigelat

PIP NEWS 
On a weekly basis PIP aims to promote the inclusion o children and young people with special needsinto mainstream playgroups, pre-schools and social, aterschool activities. Volunteers assist in a chosengroup and promote inclusion by giving support when needed by working with all the children andsta. The volunteer is an extra pair o hands. They are not responsible or the child that needs support. The service is or children and young people aged 2 – 19 years. Volunteering with PIP can make adierence to their lie and yours. PIP oers opportunities and challenges, access to training, a chanceto learn new skills and make new riends. For volunteering opportunities o 1 – 2 hours per week or todiscuss the needs o your child, please call 01253 899883 and ask or Charity Manager Francoise Piell.Here is an example:Jacob is a 12 year old young man who has additional needs. He has been on the Blackpool Link Projectat PIP since 2002. He has been attending a local ootball training session and he has been part o theootball team since 2006. Through attending this group he has developed many new skills. He hasmade new riends and he is a good team player, ollows instructions and most o all he is having unand keeping t.As the Project Worker or PIP Link, I eel this is a combination o his dedication and the continuoussupport rom his PIP volunteer. She has supported Jacob or over 2 years, is committed to volunteeringand has encouraged him to take part. Without PIP involvement this young person may not have hadthis opportunity.
Blackpool Bears Multi-Disability Sports Club + Lytham FunPod 
Annual Fun Sports DaySaturday 13September 2008
Blackpool Sports Centre, WestPark Drive was once againthe venue or the annualsports day, or members o Blackpool Bears and LythamFunpod. Together with carersand helpers there were over100 young and not so youngpeople, with all types o additional needs, competing in a wide variety o “un” sporting activities and games. This year Helen, Dave & coaches rom Funpod ran the event, assisted by Anthony, Belinda and coaches romthe Blackpool Bears. The “Bears” narrowly won the overall competition retaining the “Cup” or another year, buteveryone present had such a good time that the result didn’t seem to matter.All taking part were awarded certicates and medals were presented by Councillor John Singleton representingthe Mayor o Fylde, and everyone agreed to do it all again next September!
Blackpool Bears meet Saturdays at Blackpool Sports Centre, West Park Drive between 11.30 & 14.30hrs and is open to persons with all types of additional needs including siblings & friends, further information contact “blackpoolbears@aol.com” or Blackpool Sports Centre on 01253 478470
