INTRODUCTION
This is the fourth edition of my Wild Bunch playbook, andcoaches will find that the theme of this version is a focus onessentials. I have pruned away all but the absolute essence ofthe offense, and I urge coaches to concentrate first onperfecting the 20 plays(at the high school level) that definethe core Wild Bunch attack before they look at adding more. There is definitely variation within simplicity, however, socoaches who subscribe to the “toolbox” theory of offensivedesign need not worry that I will tell them they can build ahouse with only a hammer and a pair of pliers. The tools youneed to succeed are here -- your job is to perfect their use byyour team. Twenty key plays: Seven Fly Sweep (10) seriesplays; eight key pass route packages (50, 60 and 70 series);three pass-action runs and screens (50and 60 series); and theQB wedge play and Fullback Iso (32 Wedge and 38 Ice) alldeserve your full attention during installation, and will rewardpractice to perfection- see p. 136.Coaches are, as always, welcome to contact me atseayee@hotmail.comwith any Wild Bunch-related questions.
