Calculating the Grade level of a Book, Magazine, or Website
Instructions for MS Word 2007 to calculate the Flesch-Kincaid grade level of awebsite.To calculate the text of a book, type the text of several paragraphs at thebeginning, middle and end of the book.

On the top-left corner, click the
Microsoft Office Button
.

At the bottom of the menu, click
Word Options
.

In the new dialog window, click
Proofing
.

Make sure
Check grammar with spelling
is selected.

Under 
When correcting grammar in Word
, select the
Show readabilitystatistics

7.Find a web site that you might want to use with children

The web site should have at least a paragraph of textb.Highlight and copy the web site text8.Paste the text into Microsoft Word

To get rid of the web html coding, select Paste Special and thenUnformatted Text9.Run Spell Checka.Click the Review tab at the top of the Word documentb.The Proofing block is on the far leftc.Click Spelling and Grammar:d.You will need to ignore any errorse.When the Spell Check is complete, this Readability box will appear:
