tral Baptist Church, Wayne, Pa. traveled withsome folks from The Simple Way in Philadel

phia to visit long time Salvadoran friendsAlex Orantes and Ruth Rodriguez de Orantesand their son Victor Hugo. By the end of thisvisit it was clear to us that we needed to actto support the work of each of them and we be

gan to look for ways to insure a stable incomethat could undergird their ministries.In 2009, inspired by the election ofa Salvadoran president from a progressive op

position party (the FMLN) for the first timein the country’s history, we changed the nameof the fund to Cielo Azul (blue sky)--partlyto celebrate this new opening in Salvadoransociety and partly to indicate new directionsthat we saw opening up in the work of each ofthem.
