makes no claim to literary merit. Itis simply a work of research and documentation, giving evidence and facts which I trust willhelp the reader in drawing his own conclusions.In the course of my researches as aninternational political investigator into the causesof social unrest, I have probed the depths of infamy which now surrounds, not ours only, butalso the next generation, whose right to lead adecent life should be as good as was ours. As awoman of the world I have witnessed things theexistence of which I did not suspect and I haverealised that, due to my " protected " position inlife. they should never have been expected to havecome to my knowledge. Let me tell every woman,however much " protected", whether Dairymaidor Duchess, that the safeguards which sheimagines to be thrown around herself are but amirage of the past.
