These are some of the most entertaining, highly readable essays I've read in a long time. The parade of wild, fascinating characters Larson has run into reads more like a novel than the typical essay. And for a veteran journalist like myself, Larson's recollections of his journalism career vividly bring to life ithe oddballs that so often come to live in the newsroom. Mike McCarthy
