Tooth Fairy Day occurs on February 28th and/or August 22
Tooth Fairy Day celebrates one of childhood's favourite visitors. The Tooth Fairy is an American tradition with European and superstitious roots.Losing baby teeth is a sometimes traumatic experience for young children. Enter theworld of the friendly, smiling and soothing Tooth Fairy. As a young child's first baby toothbecomes lose, the child often fears losing it.The promise of a visit from the tooth fairy and a gift turns the occasion into something tolook forward to. When the tooth finally falls out, mom cleans it off. It is often put it into a"tooth box" or placed into a slipper underneath the bed. It is also traditionalthat at bedtime, the child may put the tooth under her pillow. The tooth fairy comesafter the child falls asleep. She takes the tooth and leaves a small gift, usually money. The tooth fairy leaves a gift every time the child loses a tooth. If the tooth is literally lostin some way, don't worry. The Tooth Fairy always knows, and will still leave a gift. Shemagically knows each time a baby tooth falls out, and will arrive that night , even if thechild is away, or on vacation. There is ongoing debate whether the Tooth Fairy is a male or a female. But, it's prettyobvious. “She” is most definitely a female. Please enjoy our Fairy Activities in Celebrationof Tooth Fairy Day :)References & CreditsHoliday Insights Tooth Fairy org

For Moms and Dads
Baby teeth serve important purposes such as helping the child to speak normal andclear, and to chew naturally. Baby teeth also hold a place for permanent teeth tocome in properly. Children with cavities eat poorly, stop smiling, and don’t learnproperly. Tooth decay is an infection that does not heal without treatment. If cavitiesare not treated, children can develop infections severe enough to require emergencyroom treatment and their adult teeth may be permanently damaged.Kids begin to loose their baby teeth around the age of 6. There are usually 20 babyteeth. That’s quite a few teeth for the Tooth Fairy to come for!The first teeth to be lost are usually the central incisors. This is then followed by theeruption of the first permanent molars. The last baby tooth is usually lost around the ageof 12, and is the cuspid or secondmolar. It is important to note that the eruptiontime varies from one child to another.Around the ages of two to three yearsold, primary teeth should all haveerupted.UPPERA - Central Incisors - 8-13 monthsB - Lateral Incisors - 8-13 monthsC - Canines (cuspids) -16-23 monthsD - First Molars - 13-19 monthsE - Second Molars - 25-33 monthsLOWERA - Central Incisors - 6-10 monthsB - Lateral Incisors - 10-16 monthsC - Canines (cuspids) - 16-23 monthsD - First Molars - 13-19 monthsE - Second Molars - 23-31 months
