etails of training for Energy Audit 1
We gave a short overview of the purpose and procedure of ELP for thebenefit of the first-time volunteers. Then, we explained how an energy audit requires more than just lookingat the utilities bill and is actually a process of facilitating change in theclient. To do so, we need to create a vision for them to see and giveconcrete steps they can take towards that vision. We would also needto overcome their resistance to change. The volunteers were then taught how to estimate the energy usage ofair-cons, fans and refrigerators, as well as give specific tips to reduce thisusage. The volunteers also had the chance to familiarise themselves with theoperational procedure and the forms they would be using for theactual day. Finally, some of the volunteers role-played various scenarios andeveryone had a chance to comment and suggest improvements.
