Question:
What do the Jurists say on this issue: there is acustom in our region that if any calamity, such as cholera, smallpox or famine breaks out, then to prevent them, theinhabitants of the area give rice, wheat and moneyaccording to their capacity, cook food and give a feast tothe Muslim divines and religious persons and then also theinhabitants all eat along with them. Is giving this meal tothe inhabitants of the area legal or not? What is theShariat’s verdict about this meal?May Allah reward you!
