C21 Literature 
is a logical developmentof the explosion of interest in 21st-centurywritings, seen in book groups, new courses,and the development of online publishing.
C21Literature 
is now issuing a call for articles,book reviews, opinion pieces, case studies andconference reports for its launch edition. Articlesaddressing but not limited to the followingthemes are invited:21st-century forms, genre and trends

Articles should be 6000-7000 words andcreative pieces 250-2000 words. The journaluses the author/date Chicago style referencingsystem. The closing date for abstracts of 500words is 1 June 2011, but full articles will alsobe welcomed on this date. Finished articles willbe expected within three months of abstractdecisions. Aims
C21 Literature 
aims to create a critical,discursive space for the promotion andexploration of 21st-century writings in English.It will address a range of narratives incontemporary culture, from the novel, poemand play to hypertext, digital gaming andcontemporary creative writing. It will featureengaged theoretical pieces alongside newunpublished creative works and investigate thechallenges that new media present to traditionalcategorizations of literary writing.
Scope
Articles are encouraged from academics,contemporary writers, publishers and readers.The journal will publish articles on 21st-century writings as well as reviews, featuresand opinion pieces from academics, readers
andwritersintheeld,papers,reviewpapers,
case studies, rapid communications (letters),conference reports, and calendars of eventsand provide a range of advertising opportunitiesfor publishers and academic institutions. Thejournal is supported by an interdisciplinaryeditorial board from North America, Europe and

Therstdecadeofthenewmillennium
witnessed an explosion in the variety andfunction of modes of writing in contemporarysocieties the world over. From innovations inrecognised forms such as the novel, poem, playand short story to developments in blogging,digital writings, new media and creative writing,modes of writing dominated the developmentof 21st-century literature. The new millenniumalso witnessed exciting challenges to literaryconventions including form, genre and trendsfrom Steampunk to Slash, Nordic Noir toFaction. The publishing industry also changed,with technological advances giving rise to thedawn of the eBook and corporate sponsorshipigniting debates about the usefulness of literary
prizesandfestivals.Thersteditionof

 will focus on these evolutions in writings from
