ىَلَع ْوَأ اًضيِرَم َناَك َمَو ُهْُصَْلَف َرْّش ُُِم َدِَ ََف  َرَخُأ ٍاّيَأ ْم ٌةّدِَف ٍرََس 
•
therefore whoever witnesses themonth, he shall fast therein, andwhoever is sick or upon a journey, then(he shall fast) a (like) number of other days;
 
 
َرْّش ُُِم َدِَ ََف  َرْّش ُُِم َدِَ ََف

SHAHIDA is testimony or witness:

And in the English interpretations of the Qur’an : (four opinions)3.KNOWS THE BEGINNING: Any one of you who knowsthat the month of RAMADHAN has begun, he muststart to fast-SARWAR4.WITTNESSES THE MONTH: So let those who witnessit (the month) fast in it- QOLI/Mir Ahmed5.WITNESSES THE MOON: Who ever observes themoon6.PRESENT IN HIS HOME: Therefore whoever of you ispresent in the month, he shall fast therein, -SHAKIR
