JackChapman scribbled: Totally agree with Steve Jobs here, and thankfully cases are know being reported of increased sales by artists who are giving their music away for free and also removing DRM The last thing any artist or label should do is put barriers up to stop people engaging with their music. DRM and such measures are old world. Music will be shared no matter what, the question is if the artist or label will benefit or not. If you are in control of your music and its dispersion, you can then structure opportunities for a sale. http://sell-your-songs.com/

JackChapman scribbled: JackChapman less than a minute ago I agree with Steve Jobs here. Examples and case studies are increasingly showing that "free" is a good business model for artists who want to sell their songs. Ie Artists have seen sales of their songs increase the more they are freely available. The removal of copy protection and DRM are a step in the right direction. This kind of thinking takes us back to a different era of scarcity and protection. The era we live in now is abundant - and DRM cannot stop piracy at all. Smart record companies and artists are ensuring one thing - that their music is easily available for anyone who wants it...from them! Most people are cash rich and time poor. Instead of going searching through illegal weird sites, companies and artists that make it easy and cheap for people to buy online will take the advantage. Sell your songs JC
