John Shore
Luddite:
Funny post, John. In a former lifetime, I was a surgical technician. And let me reassure you that MOST of the time, surgery goes just fine...no problems, no lost gloves, no dull instruments. All the best to you and your wife.
JedDiamondPhD:
John,
I know what you mean. Wife's a precious creatures and hospitals remind us all how fragile is the thread and how important it is to speak out our love in humor and at depth. Hugs to you both.
Luddite:
Noooo! Tell me it isn't so, John!
(if it's any consolation, at least you and he share the same first name).
Adventure Girl MiMi:
Guilty, i clicked!
JedDiamondPhD:
Becoming our parent (whether we loved him, hated him, or never knew him) is part of life's little jokes. Of course you can avoid all of that if you die young.
Luddite:
Loved the Ward Cleaver musings and especially the responses. I'm reminded by my siblings now and then that I'm becoming my mother. And in ways I'd rather not. She was a wonderful person...but I want to be my own person. What explains our gradual morphing over the years?
helenwinslow:
Oooh...right at the point where this hits home dude. specially since my mother and I have always had identical--absolutely identical--voices. Now the rest is coming in!! But if we get to pick movie star avatars, I want Myrna Loy.
Mary Kretzmann:
People do some really dumb things - at least she regrets it and has turned in a new leaf...Sometimes the "reformed' must be firm and dogmatic (unfortunately for us) to get their boat sailing in a new direction.
John Shore:
Oh, God, no. For FREE, you mean? Sarah Palin, make her rushed-to-press-in-time-for-the-Christmas-market book available for FREE? People will be lucky if they don't have to pay again to get the second half of it.
Mary Kretzmann:
Oh - give her a break..Ghost writers a common thing. I don't agree with Pailn on everything but I am impressed: Mother of 5; beautiful, fit (already that combo is impressive)
Smart, governor, picked for vice pez, has a good looking, fun, adventurous husband, Kids who seem to love her-
AND SHE WANTS TO DRILL FOR OIL HERE INSTEAD OF FUNDING JIHADISTS. Have you people been following the news???
John Shore:
Mary: What's necessarily admirable about being a mother: that's a biological fact, not a moral indicator. And what in the world is admirable about being good-looking, fit, or smart? Again: THOSE AREN'T MORAL INDICATORS. It's like saying you admire someone for being tall or having brown hair.
John Shore:
Just because it's common doesn't make it right. If she doesn't care enough to write her own book, she SHOULD care enough not to put her name on it.
Adventure Girl MiMi:
Just checked this out, this man is quite funny! Thanks, John!
Adventure Girl MiMi:
And you can just call me "500"!
Adventure Girl MiMi:
DUDE, I WAS 500!!!!!!!!!!
John Shore:
No. Way. I have to go check this out ....
Luddite:
