Professional Background:
Delegate Gerron Levi is an attorney and served from 2002 to 2009 as Assistant Director of theLegislative Department at the AFL-CIO, a federation of over 50 national and international labororganizations. She lobbied the U.S. Congress, Senate and the Executive Branch on nationalpolicy affecting fair wages and working conditions, health care, pensions, immigration, andworkplace safety and health. She worked with both Democrats and Republicans to build amajority of votes in Congress. Gerron Levi presents at legislative conferences across thecountry and has been a spokesperson on forums, radio programs and in print media. From1995 to 2002, she was Legislative Representative for the Laborers’ International Union of North America.While serving as legislative assistant for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) on judiciaryissues, she helped the Senator draft important campaign finance legislation and pass a ban onsemi-automatic assault weapons. Gerron Levi also served on the staff of Congressman GusSavage (D-IL) where she worked on environmental issues and constituent services.
Other Community Involvement
Delegate Gerron Levi is an active member of the Woodmore community. She has served as amember of the Board of Directors for the Woodmore Homeowner’s Association, as thecommunity’s newsletter editor, and is a founding member of the Woodmore FriendshipCouncil, which seeks to build a greater sense of community through events that bringneighbors and communities together. The Council’s inaugural garden tour was featured in the July/August 2005 edition of the national “Homes of Color” magazine.She served as a member of the Prince George’s County Council’s Church Road Task Force andas a member of the Bowie and Vicinity Master Plan developing tier focus group. She is anactive member of her church, From the Heart Church Ministries, and she enjoys skiing,swimming, hiking, biking and just about any outdoor activity.
