Aims of the meeting:
To establish a contact between Lambeth Council and LJ residents with a viewto starting an LJ residents’ association.To set up Residents’ Association to promote and improve areaTo set up Residents’ Association notice boardTo obtain information from the Council about forthcoming improvements andprojects in the areaTo discuss application for Grassroots Lambeth Grants (closing date 07.11.08)
Main things discussed:Issues around LJ area:

Split area – divide of Coldharbour Lane and Loughborough Road –both physical and demographical.
•
Therefore LJ area was never given priority
•
The Coldharbour Lane Forum imploded two years ago and nothing hashappened with residents since then.
•
Need for shops to reopen, for public realm and environment around thestation and connecting routes to Brixton/Ruskin Park/Camberwell etc tobe improved.
•
Traffic and pedestrian crossings needed for LJ to be safer
•
Lack of public space – use of green on cross roads, etc.
Lambeth Council plans for LJ area:
•
New Manager for Brixton Town Centre (Nicole Terrieux) will supportthe regeneration of LJ as part of her brief.
•
Masterplan for LJ needed, including Network rail
•
Importance of residents’ association encouraging interaction at alllevels – neighbours/ businesses/ council
Regenerating shops:
•
Green Man to potentially become skills information and training Hub –
