the padded version sounds forced once to get to the first brother wheeling on the second. the unpadded version sounds more natural. but in either version, i don't understand why the two brothers never see each other again if they have been visiting each other for years (as seems implied) at Christmas. unfortunately, there is no conflict in this piece. nothing happens. it's merely a scene. scenes don't make for good fiction. not that it's not well written, but something has to happen. |
