Harry Potter and the DeathlyHallows: Part 2
 July 15, 2011
Poor Harry! Battling evil Voldemort yet tooscared to kiss his girl and finally, being upstagedin the hero department by Neville? Is this howyou want to end this $6 billion dollar franchise?
One Word Movie Review: Brilliant
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
starts alldark and gloomy, in fog and lightning and ends about thesame, with a lot of blood and fireworks in between. AsHermione Granger (played by the mature and fabulousEmma Watson) says when things go right for a change,
“brilliant!” This finale to the decade of magical movies based on JK Rowling’s books, delivers what audiences
wanted and waited forever to see. Harry wins, Voldemortfinally loses and the young teenagers kiss and plan theirfutures, safe and secure now that evil has been truly andfinally defeated. You'll be biting your Goblin fingernails right up to thevery end of this last movie in JK Rowling's magical seriesof stories about our favorite wizard, Harry Potter and hisbattles against the evil Voldemort, the murderer of his

parents. The end of a saga is like returning from a long journey. The trip was long, wandering and surprising butyou're glad to be going home and back to your regular life.We owe a great debt to JK Rowling and her series of books which have entranced a generation (and theirparents). We have watched the trio of characters and theactors playing them (Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter,Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint asRon Weasley) mature as magicians and teenagers. As the last Harry Potter film,
Part 2 of the Deathly Hallows
, the audience has been primed and ready for thismoment and the box office will not disappoint theproducers. Outside of comic books spawning mega-hitssuch as the

movies or
Spider Man
films, or thecurrent British champion of books and screen, theenduringly-charming Bond, James Bond, Harry Potter hasbeen the billion dollar box office baby. Like his signatureforehead scar, lightning strikes again with this finale to agreat theatrical run. Movies have been good to authors, butfew have transformed the market and audiences as quicklyas Harry Potter and JK Rowling, from trailer park queen tostately mansion madam in a brief decade. The audience in my jammed theater on opening night wasquiet and attentive, hanging on every whisper andmuttered incantation. There were tears and cheers and
applause at the end, everything you’d expect from a well
