Humpty Dumpty sat on a Wall (Street) and dreamtof a goose that laid golden eggs. Add two catburglars, three magic beans and then leteverybody dance up the beanstalk! Gold eggsfor everyone! Is this a fairytale or real life for the1% living in the clouds high above us? Ah, theyget egg
on their greedy faces, that’s why this is a
family fantasy movie, and a darn good one.
One Word Movie Review: Kittytastic
 Puss In Boots
opens with AntonioBanderas (as the voice of Puss InBoots) introducing his character as anoutlaw with many names, the oppositeof the character he is modeled after,
the famous “man with no name”,
played by Clint Eastwood during hisspaghetti Western days. We hear theSpanish music, the hat, feather, swordand boots providing this cat with his identity and then weare told the tale of his adventurous past, when he was a
really “bad kitty”.
And so starts a wonderful, inventive and often hilariousride through the life of Puss In Boots before he met
Shrek
 in the second movie of that series. The families around meenjoyed the ride as we follow our feline hero into a life of

crime, from an orphan kitten to master thief, theconsummate cat burglar. He forms and breaks allianceswith Humpty Dumpty, battles the nasty Jack and Jill and
competes to steal Jack Beanstalk’s magic beans with the
sultry Kitty Softpaws (voiced by his co-star from
 Desperado
and
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
, SalmaHayek).

mixes the fairy tale formula of the
Shrek
 movies with the heist drama of rival cat burglars from
ToCatch a Thief 
, tosses in some classic spaghetti westernvistas and music and delivers a clever, visually-stunningadventure without one fart joke or Hollywood insiderreference.The families sharing the theater with me were delightedwith the story, especially the young girls and theirmothers who uttered the classic complement over the end
