Wow, it has been one year - andwhat an amazing year it has been!We now have a core group of abouttwenty children and many morethat are coming as regular visitors.Just to show how far we have come- if all of the kids were tocollectively show up on oneSunday, we would have over fortychildren! This is a dramaticincrease from the three to four thatwere regularly coming to church inFebruary 2008. Our prayers are being answered - Praise God!Several children have proclaimedtheir faith this year. We are alsoexpecting a confirmation class of atleast ten children to commence in2009. The best has yet to come -we are still growing! We are ever mindful this growth isnot always easy and we still havestruggles to face. We know that wehave been called here to help guidethese children into God's kingdom, and there is nothing better worthfighting for!-Heather Marshall/THIRST LayLeader

s call to McKendree, Iwanted to share something with allof you.As I reflect back on one full year of the THIRST ministry thriving inand stretching this church, I can’thelp but get ecstatic about thefuture - the future of the
children
of this church. I challenge you to also be thinking about and praying for the kids that aren’t even here yet - but are sure to come.In fact, allow yourself to think outside of the box for a moment. As Jordan Callaway and I met withStephen for our weekly meeting onTuesday (yes, it’s alreadyhappening!), he challenged us tocome up with a list of people weknow that do not have Christ intheir life and intentionally bringthem into our midst. (It was moreof a requirement than a challenge)When we started THIRST, one of the things we stated over and over again was that “there are childrenin your neighborhood who are
thirsty.
” You know who thesechildren are - I also challenge youto seek them out and bring themhere to McKendree.Folks, it’s time! Not a time to focuson numbers for numbers sake - buta time to bring those among you towhere God is moving and shaking!- Kevin Sparkman
