A packed out FellowshipHall proved to be theperfect setting for sendingoff McKendree pastors TomHalliburton and RonPatterson -
the right way!
In good fashion - and ingood humor, both Tom andRon were great sports asstaff and church memberslovingly roasted our belovedleaders of the past 4 and 5years respectively.Roasters included theevening’s appointed RoastMaster Mark Hattan, KevinSparkman, Ruth Baggett,Buford Winfrey, AnthonyMangin, and JordanCallaway. Pat Reigle sang asolo and the Jubilate GospelChoir rounded out thenight musically.In addition to the jabbinggifts, kind words, and specialprayers were offered as wecelebrated our time inministry with Tom and Ron.They will truly be missed!

Rev. Stephen Handycomes to McKendree
Stephen Emanuel Handy Sr. will becoming from Pickett Rucker UMC, aspiritually filled and faithful growingcongregation in Lebanon, TN.
 
In thefour years Rev. Handy has been there,the congregation has grown from 40 toover 200.
 
Rev. Handy graduated from DillardUniversity in New Orleans with a B.A.in Business Administration. He also hasa Master’s degree in BusinessAdministration from TSU, and aMaster’s degree in Divinity fromVanderbilt University.
 
He worked atUnited Methodist Publishing as aCurriculum Coordinator in the formerGraded Press Division.
 
Soon afterward,he participated in the ManagementTraining Program.After leaving the Publishing House,Stephen spent the next 15 years atService Merchandise in the Advertisingand Marketing area. He was elevatedinto a variety of positions within thecorporate structure and reached theranks of Asst. VP of Advertising andMarketing in 1998.
 
He then decided toreturn to the United MethodistPublishing House in September 2000 asthe Director of Direct Sales and is nowthe Executive Director of Congregational Solutions.But on Sunday, June 28 of this year, Rev.Handy will step down from thosepositions and take on a new challenge – 
becoming the senior pastorhere at McKendree UnitedMethodist Church!

Handy is a gifted communicator who is passionate abouthelping people understand the necessity of a relationship with Jesus Christ. He believes that “spreading the gospel” and“equipping the saints for the ministry of Jesus Christ” need to bereclaimed within the body of Christ.
 
He has a contagious lovefor all of God’s people regardless of color, creed, orcircumstances.
 
Rev. Handy believes “God is doing a newthing” (Isaiah 43:19) and that WE are the new thing.McKendree’s current pastor, Rev. Tom Halliburton, is leaving us tobecome the District Superintendent of the CumberlandDistrict.
 
Although we are sad to lose Pastor Tom, we welcomePastor Stephen Handy to McKendree. We especially looforward to meeting his wife
