Smiling Faces Needed
Amazingly, our Day Care Center turns twenty nextyear. Over those two decades we have been blessed withmany warm, engaging, and spirit-filled volunteers who act asgreeters in the lobby of the Christian Life Center. Recentlysome of our “long-time” volunteers have retired after years of being surrogate grandparents to the children and helpful, smiling faces to the parents coming and going each day.Additionally, our volunteers have helped Cindy and her staff keep track of phone calls, visitors, and the mail. Many scientists and health professionals agree thatpeople who are active and socially engaged have morefulfilling life experiences. As a McKendree Day Care FrontDesk Volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to meet manynew people (big and small) while staying active (there is nevera dull moment!). One of the biggest benefits to volunteeringis getting more time to enjoy your retirement. It turns outthat volunteering could lead to a longer life. According to arecent study, retired volunteers aged 65 and older are lesslikely to die than retirees of the same age who do notvolunteer. If you or someone you know is interested in becominga part of our Day Care Family by working a five hour shift, once a week at the CLC front desk, please contact CindyLigon at 271-2620.
