New ‘Wed Night Live’scheduling to usher inopportunities for all ages
With the addition of our newChildren & Youth Coordinator Karen Hattan, an influx of newservants from the McKendreecommunity rising up to help, andan ever-growing congregation -Wednesday nights at McKendree(known as
“Wednesday NightLive”
) will return to more of afamily atmosphere with ministryopportunities and programs for allages.“The exciting thing about thenew scheduling format is that it isfirst and foremost Christ-centered,but secondly it is set up tointentionally build unity betweenthe many different age groupsand interests represented in theMcKendree community” saysKaren Hattan.With its intense Bible studygroups already in place and withthe addition of even more,Wednesday nights at McKendreecan best be described in thismission summary: “Bringing our diverse community into theknowlede, love, and service ofJesus Christ.”The new schedule beginningthe first Wednesday in October willbe as follows:

Home Groups update: for Mom’s only!
Announcing McKendree’s newest home group,the Home Group for Mom’s. The goal of this HomeGroup will give a chance to gather together (whilefathers are at home
with
the kids!) to engage in vitalconversations and support one another as mothersall under the heading of a Christ-centered studysession.Initial plans for this Home Group is to meet everyother Sunday evening from 5-7p. Room In The Inn begins in November
Our annual involvement with the Room In TheInn ministry resumes next month in November. We willhost a handful of men who are displaced but alsoactively working jobs on Wednesday evenings.We will need help from all corners of theMcKendree community to provide essential livingitems for these gentlemen, breakfast and baglunches for Thursdays (this year the men will beinvited to join the congregation for Wednesdaynight dinner and worship), bus drivers, and gentlemento spend the night on Wednesday nights. Sign-upsheets will soon be available on Sunday mornings.

Corporate Worship
The newest feature for Wednesday night will be the corporateworship time before everyone disperses from the Fellowship Hall to their Bible study of choice. The current Bible study led by Stephen Handy, nowknown as
“Dinner & A Study
,
will immediately follow worship time andwill stay in the Fellowship Hall. Those wishing to attend the former “Community Groups” (now to simply be known as “Wednesday NightBible Study”) will dismiss to their study of choice after worship time.Initially, we will offer Women’s Wed. Night Bible Study, Men’s Wed. NightBible Study (these groups will continue with the studies previouslystarted), and a new Young Adult Wed. Night Bible Study.
Children & Youth
The biggest addition to Wednesday night will be for the kids andteenagers.
“Let Loose”
from 3:00-5:15p every Wednesday at the ChristianLife Center will be for children, middle school, and high school youth(THIRST & Thread ministries). Initially this will be a time for supervisedgames, sports, and activities. Eventually we aim to offer various classesand after-school workshops in addition to a place to come and playwhen school is over. At 5:15p all will be escorted to the Fellowship Hall toeat dinner with their church family. At 6:00p the children and youth willbe dismissed from dinner to start their Wednesday night programming at
The Attic
(area currently where children & youth meet on Sundays). From6:00-8:00p kids and youth will engage in praise and worship, funactivities, and Bible study.
Child Care
As with all church events held at McKendree, the
Thrive
child careministry will be available until 8:30p for any families needing child care for ages 5 and under.We are excited to roll out the new Wednesday Night Live andtogether grow into the knowledge, love, and service of Jesus Christ.Please be in prayer over this new opportunity for our church. As with anynew ministry there will be growing pains, lessons to be learned, andmuch needed support. What opportunities we have at McKendree!
