Summer at McKendree 2010
McKendree will be hosting the
School of CongregationalDevelopment
at our main campus from Thursday, July 29 toMonday, August 2. For Sunday, August 1 we will once again cometogether to engage in a special combined worship service at 10:00a.
What is the School of Congregational Development?
In the 1980s theGeneral Board of Discipleship and the General Board of GlobalMinistries created a training experience for new church start pastors. In the last ten years, SCD has blossomed to include training for Bishops, District Superintendents, Conference Staff, pastors, andchurch teams from existing congregations who desire to learn how tocreate and develop disciple-growing congregations. It is an honor to be asked to host this critical event in our TNConference, plan on attending Sunday, August 1 at 10a!
The Loft Nashville stage
Since theflooding eventof May 2010we have notrescheduledthe “WorshipUnder The Stars” event thatwas originally planned for arainy May 16 evening. Inaddition to a Sunday nightworship service, that event wasalso going to be anopportunity to raise funds for anew stage for The Loft. The original wooden stage thathas served the Rooftop Gardenand The Loft for the past 20years has finally reached theend of its faithful life!Because of more importantfunding and supply raisingneeds in our area, we aren’tgoing to hold a benefit concertor fund raiser for a new stageany time soon. We did, however, want to get the wordout about this need in caseanyone might be willing todonate funds or wood for thecause. We desire to increase theusage of The Loft as soon aspossible. Also, the YouthWorksmissions groups staying at our facility throughout the summer will be using The Loft weekly for worship services and events.
