Where oh where to begin? Howabout I start by saying hello! Anchorhas passed his position as Aqua Newseditor along to me. I thank Anchor forputting in years of hard work and timeto put together the Aqua News for ourenjoyment and education. I can onlyhope I can live up to his reputationand do as great of a job as he did!As I take on my position as the neweditor and webmaster, I have someideas that I plan on testing and put-ting in place. The first and biggestchange that I will be working towardwill be to make the Aqua News avail-able as an online publication. With thetalented design capabilities of Mr. JoeLover, we will be providing a bright,colorful and wonderful online AquaNews. We are in an age where tech-nology can help us provide a beauti-ful means of publishing our articles,photos and stories at a minimal cost.Let’s take advantage of the tools avail-able to us!For a short time, I will be publishingthe online version of the Aqua Newsalongside the normal print version thatyou are accustomed to having in yourmailbox. I want to know what you, themembership, have to say about thenew version of the Aqua News. Yourcomments, thoughts and suggestionsare welcome. Please forward them tome at the new email address for theAqua News editor:editor@mn-aquarium.orgI do understand that some folks do nothave access to the internet. When wedo move to the online version, conces-sions will be made for those that donot have the ability to read the news-letter online.I’m also hoping to bring a tour ofpeople’s fish rooms in each volumeof the Aqua News. This will give usan opportunity to get to know ourfellow members and provide insightto the many different ways that wecan keep fish. If you are interested inhaving your fish room highlighted inan Aqua News, please let me know!I’m interested in all fish rooms and fishkeepers, be they single-tank homes orponds, or high tech rooms with hun-dreds of tanks!I’m excited to serve as the new AquaNews editor! I hope I can continueto provide a high quality, interestingand educational news letter into thefuture!

Hello MAS members,This is my final message to you asyour President. I’m sad because Iso enjoy serving in this capacity,but I know Mike will do a fan-tastic job!! His leadership skillsas Show Chair have been trulyremarkable.As a wrap up, I’d like to mentionhow wonderful it’s been to leadthe club through this historic 75thyear. We’ve had many interestingtalks by nationally known speak-ers. We’ve had special gatheringson additional days besides Thurs-days. Our membership numberscontinue to climb and I was verypleased to meet many new folksand exchange hundreds of emailsand phone calls.As Tom would say regarding thePrez position, “the buck stopshere” but I prefer this quote “achain is only as strong as its weak-est link.” I’ve been honored andappreciative to work amongst thededicated committee chairs andcurrent board of directors. Theseare creative, hard working peoplewho challenge themselves andare drawn together by our oneshared link...a love of fish. I’msometimes amazed how long theBOD meetings last, but it’s onlybecause we’re constantly striv-ing to improve each and everyaspect of how the club runs andwhat we’re trying to accomplish.Please remember, no question isconsidered small, no suggestion isdisregarded. Remember too, forsome BOD members, sending anemail, a phone call or face to facedialogue at a meeting is the bestway to communicate. Forums arewonderful places, but they’re notfor everyone. Dani will be work-ing on setting up email addressesfor the various chairs and direc-tors through the website.As we go into the 76th year,we’ll not forget our history. We’llacknowledge those who have“been there and done that” andwe’ll encourage the next genera-tion (or those returning to thehobby) to “be all they can be.”We’ll continue to laugh, shareideas and educate and althoughthe medium may be changing aswe view the Aqua News, the mis-sion remains the same. Educationand fun!! Please join us as wetour Koiacres in Scandia and catchtrout/picnic at the farm in StarPrairie, WI on July 15th.I thank you for your membership.Final quotes (and these are mytwo all time favorites!!) “Wheth-er you think you can, or think youcan’t, you’re probably right.” And“The difference between extraor-dinary and ordinary is that littleextra.” Take these quotes and dosome great things with your fish.
