Skills

HardwareTroubleshooting

Iset out to build a PC atan early age (12) andhavecontinued building them ever since; helping me todevelopan extensive set of skills in regards to HardwareTroubleshooting. I demonstrated these skills at “AmsysPlc”, where I was employed as a Hardware Technician.

Multiple OSexperience

Having used Mac OS X in a technical repair environment, Iam confident with its use –including both basic tasks inaddition too themore advanced. Furthermore, I have usedLinux systems (Debian and Gentoo) as my main OS for several years. Additionally, I am still confident withtroubleshooting on Windows though, with experience fromWindows ’98 to Windows 7. (Including RTM builds)

Computer Security

One of my other interests is in Computer Security; havingboth experimented with vulnerability research (includingweb vulnerabilities) as well as exploit development.

SystemsAdministration

I am comfortable carrying out systems administration taskssuch as – system configuration, OS installation,setting upfile and user permissions.. etc.I did this whilst under previous employment, as well asonrepairs carried out onbehalf of friends and family.

Scripting andProgramming

At the age of 14 I began programming in C, and soonmoved on to experimenting with x86 Intel Syntax

Assembly Language. Furthermore, I have experience withBASH and Python scripts for minor systems administrationtasks.

Web Development

I maintain my own personal websitein addition too aphotography group website. In the past I have also had toset up numerousweb packages. (Including Wordpress,Prestashop, osCommerce, SMF..) Thisincludesconfiguring MySQL databases, troubleshooting PHPissues and configuring file permissions.

Customer Service

In previous employment, I found myself able to describetechnical faults and their corresponding solutions to avariety of customers over the phone – including those whowere not technologically aware, further to those who wereangry and appeared to seek confrontation.

In 2008 I found a severe Cross Site Scripting vulnerability in the “Facebook” Social Networkingwebsite, I reported this to Facebook and then to “

Previous Employment

Hardware Technician, Amsys Plc – January 2009 -> June 2009

I was offered the job of Hardware Technician at Amsys Plc in December 2008 based on my knowledgeand interest in electronics and computers.Whilst here I was responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of Apple products – all theportable and desktop models, in addition to the troubleshooting of other Apple products. (Time Capsuleetc)I also sat the Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians course, which involved common troubleshootingtheoryalongwith practical modules.Furthermore, I also learned about various safety procedures for dealing with CRTs as well as ESD precautions. (I was not required to sit the exam due to company policyat the time)This job also brought with it a wealth of experience regarding how to deal with customers, and relayingtechnical information to them. It also gave me an insight into how to deal with difficult customers.
