Genesis & the Human Condition
***NOTE: The following might offend some people’s “moral” sensibilities, but please remember that it is merely anINTELLECTUAL EXERCISE, so please do not get all huffy and/or offended. Furthermore, I refuse to be held accountable for any "mental repercussions” the reader experiences as a consequence***
First, try to imagine entities that exist on a “higher plane” or a different dimension (oneof these beings is a character known to mankind simply as “God”). These entities come todiscover a revolutionary form of power, a complex means of deriving energy from sentiencethrough processes associated with reverence or “worship” (for lack of a better term). As such, they create one or more worlds populated by ignorant and *religiously* obedient beings thatconstitute an infinite, renewable source of energy.Enter stage a new group of actors: the cosmic-equivalent of a rival political faction, themembers of which view this exploitation as morally reprehensible. Nevertheless, their objections fall on deaf ears and the “project” continues. That brings us to the “garden of Eden”, essentially an analogy for the concept of “ignorance is bliss”. On some level, the God character is genuinely empathetic toward his newcreations, so he tells them not to “eat from the tree of knowledge” because if they weresomehow to discover their true servile purpose, they would suffer greatly(physically, mentally, emotionally, etc). At this point, the “rival faction” is becoming increasingly agitated. This “interference” resulted in a systemic problemnot all that dissimilar to a computer virus propagating through the internet. Perhapsunbeknownst to the interfering party, human beings were designed to be simple but effectivein carrying out their intended function, and thus not equipped with the cognitive capacity toeffectively rationalize this “enlightenment”. Unfortunately for mankind, one possibility is thatthe cumulative effects of that initial interference could eventually result in a total “systemfailure” (Armageddon?). As I munch away at the delectable fruits pilfered from the “tree of knowledge”, I cannothelp but wonder how sweet the “other” fruits might be. It’s not unreasonable to assume thatthe lack of access to the “tree of life” (whatever that may be) is the only thing standing in the
