Personal Happiness and the Bible

from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality

Is personal happiness totally dependent upon external circumstances? Is this elusive state something we can cultivate in concert with - or even in spite of - those external circumstances? People long for it ... and many have obviously given up on ever finding it. Even the fabulously wealthy of...

I enjoyed just the title for a minute or two before I started reading. You made a cogent case. Boring results indicate a lack of a serious ingredient, God's reality. And the emotionalism you described lacks same. 09/16/2009

Breadth of Mind and the Bible - The End Game

from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality

Is the Christian life simply - "do this" - and - "don't do that"? Is that it? Or is there an end game, some substantive event on the horizon, that motivates the Christian to seek righteousness as God defines it? You probably already know ... this second question is where we are heading.

No other written material has ever been able to keep me coming back and back and back. The depths are inexhaustible.

Breadth of Mind and the Bible - Spiritually

from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality

Why is there so much confusion on spiritual matters? Even if one just focuses on Christianity, there is very little agreement among competing scholars - thus all the different denominations. So how is the “average Joe” supposed to know what material is actually from the Creator?

Robin Calamaio scribbled: These comments by designything (below) are extremely instructive. This article is a challenge to evolutionists. It is not written for homosexuals. Also, it has nothing to do with theism. It is totally void of even a hint of theism. When designything concludes with “Suggested vocation: tabloid writer for ‘Heaven Speaks to Me Monthly,’” this demonstrates his/her bigotry and fear mongering toward some form of theism. Designything’s charge is an attempt to divert the substance of this treatise. It is totally irrelevant to this article, and one is left to conclude that to bring in such a charge - from thin air - is based upon bigotry towards, and fear of, some sort of theism. This is classic projection: the charge leveled at me, he/her is actually engaged in. We are left to wonder (if we are even interested) what form of theism is the target - but as that is has nothing to do with the contentions in the work, we may or may not bother seeking that out. But the bigger point is this: Designything is exactly what is ailing with Naturalism. He/she is a pseudo-evolutionist who has polluted Naturalism with his/her metaphysical fog of Humanism. Evolution is a theory. It is a scientific theory. It is not a fact. It is not a scientific fact. It is not settled science. It is a speculative idea about how life spontaneously generated from inorganic material, with a fully operational reproductive system, and then profitably mutated for one to four billion years into the current complexity of organic life. This Article is a challenge toward these theorists who embrace homosexuality as compatible with the rudimentary principles of their theory. Simply stated, homosexual creatures, in species requiring heterosexual fertilization, do not reproduce. Therefore, if they do possess some physical beneficial adaptation for their particular species - it dies with them. In fact, their entire billion year progression leading to them goes extinct when they die. If all in a such a species develops homosexuality, then entire species goes extinct. And if all species develop this, then the entire globe would house some “sea urchins and aphis” and various microorganisms. That’s about it. (Comment continued in next post).

Robin Calamaio scribbled: Evolution will always remain a theory, because it will never be proven. It will never be settled science. Actually, scientific, statistical probability studies have already conclusively demonstrated Evolution’s position just on the origins of life - is impossible. One living cell is so astronomically complex, it is statistically impossible to have randomly, spontaneously arisen from inorganic matter. And for it to pop into existence with a fully functional reproductive system as well ... this is beyond science fiction. Even for a DNA molecule or RNA molecule to spontaneously arise is statistically impossible. And even a relatively simple protein molecule randomly forming is impossible. Evolution can not be proven for a very simple reason - it is not true. I have often said that this theory will not survive this century. But I now believe its demise will come much sooner. Access to information via the Internet is changing everything. People are abandoning this sinking ship. And the contention that life was planted here from some outside galaxy or something solves nothing. It just kicks the can down the road as the question remains -where did those aliens get their life from? Sometimes I have great sorrow for those who have so earnestly hoped in this myth. While they have desperately tried to make evolution pass from theory to fact, they have devoted themselves to an impossible task, with no hope of success. And even though they have successfully censured alternative explanations from the educational system, their propagandizing has been met with very limited success. Most of their audience intuitively knows evolution can not be correct. As they gain access to contrary scientific arguments and alternative explanations, it is amazing how easily decades of indoctrination is abandoned.

Robin Calamaio scribbled: Now that really is a good try. The short sightedness and blindness of one who would attempt to normalize an activity that immediately ends that particular creature’s billion year lifeline is breathtaking. A homosexual creature ends its billion year lifeline when it expires. What you are attempting to normalize is most likely Evolution’s mechanism for bringing an end to a particular species line. If every dwarf chimp eventually becomes a pure homosexual, say in 100,000 years or so (evolution allows for millions of years in some gradual extinctions), this normal, acceptable behavior you espouse will result in ... no more dwarf chimps. I wonder how one will become a fossil in the tropics? Your greatest error is that you take a present day snapshot of some specie’s homosexual behavior and because it exists you assume the behavior is progressive. After all, it even makes chimp males not fight - more docile. And that surely will make them more of a threat to other species who may be competing for the same ecological niche, right? It is you, and those of your psuedo social scientific rationalization camp, that seek to affirm as positive a lethal development in a species. As it spreads in a species, the species will grow? So if every creature on the globe develops this ... what? Last point. You opened you comments accusing, “Fearmongering and bigotry.” How in the world you grasp for such a popular, and anti scientific irrelevant cliche, and then attempt to present your science ... well, I don’t call it “appalling,” but it is curious. This tact is often used by pro homosexuals everywhere. Please explain what you mean by this. What is the fear part? Are you, and yours, saying I am afraid of a creature ending his/her billion-year lifeline? Fear of what? And what is the bigotry part? Bigoted toward what? These are all Humanistic metaphysical concepts based upon what? I know I am missing something here because these types of “charges” have never made any sense to me. Anyway, believe it or not, I appreciate your input.

Robin Calamaio scribbled: That is a very good comment JDOWNER. The willingness for a person to expose himself/herself to any Bible material firsthand is commendable. All I do is point to God. He is capable of "making the sale" all by Himself. And that is the way it should be. That is the way it must be. In fact, that is the way it is. I was not talked into my Christian faith by any man. That's why man will not be able to talk me out of it. God uses people - but only to the extent that they point me to come before the Creator and transact between myself and Him. This is real freedom.
