Personal Happiness and the Bible
from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality
Is personal happiness totally dependent upon external circumstances? Is this elusive state something we can cultivate in concert with - or even in spite of - those external circumstances? People long for it ... and many have obviously given up on ever finding it. Even the fabulously wealthy of...

Yes - assuming you mean DC! YES!
daver2tarleton:
I'll bet the politicians understand it that way too.
But that's why I'm writing to you: I just read your essay on boring sermons and the Bible. First, the title wasn't boring. I enjoyed just the title for a minute or two before I started reading. You made a cogent case. Boring results indicate a lack of a serious ingredient, God's reality. And the emotionalism you described lacks same.
Breadth of Mind and the Bible - The End Game
from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality
Is the Christian life simply - "do this" - and - "don't do that"? Is that it? Or is there an end game, some substantive event on the horizon, that motivates the Christian to seek righteousness as God defines it? You probably already know ... this second question is where we are heading.
What We Almost Called Scribd
from Trip in Business & Law, Technology
This was one of the initial brainstorming documents I used when naming Scribd, although we ended up going through a lot more names than this. All of these names were available as .com's back in 2006. There are spaces between individual brainstorm sessions, so you can see that Scribd was invente...
Evolution and Homosexuality
from Robin Calamaio in Research, Science
Have you ever wondered how homosexuality fits in with evolution? Do atheistic Evolutionists believe homosexuality is a “viable alternative lifestyle?” Do Evolutionists make a distinction between “civil rights” for man and “scientific rights” for man? If so, which rights have greater weight - a...

Breadth of Mind and the Bible - Spiritually
from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality
Why is there so much confusion on spiritual matters? Even if one just focuses on Christianity, there is very little agreement among competing scholars - thus all the different denominations. So how is the “average Joe” supposed to know what material is actually from the Creator?
“Why a Roman Crucifixion?” and the Bible
from Robin Calamaio in Research, Humanities
Was it necessary that God-in-the-flesh die ... on a cross? Did this method of exit somehow make His blood more powerful? If you haven’t really thought much on this, you might now.
Divus
scribbled: The book of Francesco Carotta might be of a help to find a definitive solution on the origin of the crucifixion.

Sex and the Bible
from Robin Calamaio
What does the Bible teach about sex ... about marriage, divorce and remarriage? What about homosexuality? This Article is, “Just the facts, Ma’am.” However, four Endnotes offer some prevalent interpretations of those facts. This is a great opportunity to educate yourself and this lends itself...

The End of the World and the Bible

The Central Message of the Bible
from Robin Calamaio in Books, Religion & Spirituality
The Bible was finished 2000 years ago. Is there a main point? If so, what is it? Is that point relevant today? Countless people - past and present - attest this message is the starting place for an improved life. Attitudes, behaviors and life purposes are challenged - and changed. I am one of t...
