Shipping Techniques
Brought to you by:
The Shipping Game.com
I got two packages the other day and I was amazed when I openedthem. I forget that sometimes people forget about the “basics” whenit comes to shipping. Since I have published so much on the subject Ithought I would start a mini series about some good techniques. In this example I am shipping an X Box, which is somewhat fragile. Ifirst wrapped the item in bubble wrap to protect it. I also wrappedeach of the controllers in their own wrapping to protect them fromrubbing against each other and scratching them.
Choose the right size box
Have a box that is too big, causes the product to move around a lot.Having on that is too small does not allow for any side cushioning orprotection.

I am a huge believer in fill material. In this example I like Kraft Paper. You can find it at any shipping supply company like Unline. I preferthe 30 to 40 pound rated stuff since it seems to hold its shape better. It comes in a roll, and you can get varying widths. This roll is 24”.After I put the item in I stuff the edges with Kraft paper and then putmore over the top.

The very last thing I do is glue my boxes shut. I glue because it ismuch stronger than tape and glue has not failed me yet. Tape canweaken with temperature or if it gets caught in the sort process at thefreight sort center. There is nothing worse than your box coming openand losing some items. Glue also helps you cut down on excess tape. You will notice I only need one strip.
