Great past, great future
As
I
settle into my first month as theMUFON International Director.
I
can'thelp but reflect on how far MUFONhas come since its inception in 1969.Rising like a Phoenix from the ashesing and research-

I
ing UFOs as agrass roots civil-
,
ian organization.

MUFON mem-bers today owe a great debt of grati-tude to Walt Andrus and JohnSchuessler and so many others for hav-ing the vision and fortitude to not allowthe study of UFOs to pass into oblivion.
It
is an honor for me to continue theMUFON legacy. What makes MUFON such a greatorganization are you the members whogive selflessly of your time to attend orrun state and local meetings. investi-gate UFO sighting. research UFO ac-tivity and educate the public on the re-ality of UFOs.Without your efforts. MUFONwould not be the largest UFO investi-gative organization in the world. Pleaseknow that all of your contributions areso very much appreciated. Many times
I
hear people say that
-
UFOs are past their prime. and that wewill never experience the level of ac-tivity that was witnessed in the 1940s-1970s.
I
disagree.Although. you may perceive a
lull
in
UFO activity. thousands of newsightings are reported each year, andhistorical cases that were never beforereported are coming to our attention forthe first time. The UFO phenomenonhas been with humanity for a very longtime and will continue to be with us inthe foreseeable future. At the same time. the public interestin UFOs is very high. as demonstrated
