I trained as a history and geography teacher, doing a thesis on Frederick the Great of Prussia for my Teaching Certificate and an M.A. dissertation on Thomas Wentworth, the First Earl of Strafford. I am an avid collector and reader of history books and wish the subject was taught to all children at school. Many seem to be denied knowledge of their own past in Britain where history is optional at the age of 14 in our schools.
