Message from the Director
On behalf of the SSF team, I am pleased to present the Progress Report for the 2009 fiscal year, whichcovers our operations from September 01, 2008 to August 31, 2009. This marks the second time that SSFhas been able to produce an annual progress report since the founding of our organization in 2006.The purpose of this update is to keep our donors and supporters informedabout the operations of the Sao Sary Foundation as we continue to grow.Made possible through the efforts of Mr. Aaron Marshburn, SSF hascontinued to benefit from the service volunteers from around the worldwho have worked hard to improve the ability of our organization to make alasting impact in our community. In order effectively document the work we have done during the past year, Aaron spent two weeks at the SSFcompound in Kampong Speu, conducting interviews with SSF beneficiariesand learning about the current state of affairs in Cambodia and theoperations of the Sao Sary Foundation. His assessments have been includedin order to clearly illustrate the importance of our work, the special aspectsof our organization, and the specific details of the programs and projectswe have instituted in order to combat human trafficking, violence, andexploitation in all of its forms in Cambodia. As a non-profit organization, we rely fully on the support of our friends, donors, and volunteers who, through their actions and contributions, join usin our fight to improve the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable peoplein Cambodia. Consequently, I would like to take this opportunity to extend to you our utmost gratitude toall of our funding partners (Riverkids, Groundwork Opportunities, Global Colors, and IMAXX SmartWebs Solutions), and individual donors and contributors. Without your efforts, it would not have been possible for us to continue to protect at least fifty children (95% are underage girls) at high risk for beingtrafficked in addition to assisting more than one hundred of the poorest and most vulnerable families inorder to ensure they can protect and care for their children themselves in the future. While there is still somuch work to be done, you can take pride in the knowledge that together, we can and will continue tomake a real impact on the lives of the people living in extreme poverty, as we move forward into 2010.
Remaining Sincerely Yours,
Vichetr Uon,
Executive Director/Founder
