Sharing Computer Technology Knowledge to vulnerablekids
A group of Taiwanese computer sciencestudents flew from Taiwan to a poorestCambodia province Kampong Speu forspending full four days teaching computertechnology to orphans and other vulnerablechildren who receive sponsorship and underspecial care through Sao Sary Foundation.SSF is an organization working to prevent andrespond to violence, exploitation and abuseagainst children – including commercial sexualexploitation, trafficking, child labor andharmful traditional practices, such as femalegenital mutilation/cutting and child marriage.SSF’s child protection programs also targetchildren who are uniquely vulnerable to theseabuses; such as when living without parentalcare and etc. Violations of the child’s right toprotection take place in every country and aremassive, under-recognized and under-reportedbarriers to child survival and development, inaddition to being human rights violations. Children subjected to violence,exploitation, abuse and neglect are at risk of death, poor physical and mentalhealth, HIV/AIDS infection, educational problems, displacement, homelessness,vagrancy and poor parenting skills later in life. While there are many NGO’s and other aid groups that focus on helping people who have beenvictimized by human trafficking and sexual exploitation, SSF is special in the fact that it seeks toidentify children at high risk for being trafficked in the communities where they live, in order toprevent them from being exploited in the first place.
