Prologue
Prologue, 654 A.D.Her brown hair floated to block her view as she scanned the distancelooking for Them. She knew they would come, after all, they had said thatthey would themselves. “Come away from there dear, all will be fine,” her husband, Jotape, toldher.“I know you think that, but I think not. They said that they would comeand take care of “the Prophecy”. And I know that they keep their word, though they are the spawn of all things evil,” she retorted.“Well, at this point, there is not much else we can do, is there? No, socome away from there and let us rest for a spell ‘till they come. I know thatyou are worried, but they will not reach Branwen. We have our plan; theywill not break through it. So worry not, and we shall spend our last timetogether as a family. For we know not what tomorrow brings,” he replied, hisgolden hair floating in the soft current. She looked to Branwen, sleeping in her crib of seaweed, oblivious to theimminent chaos that would enfold at some point that day. Her unique purewhite tail shone in the soft light. Her birthmark glowed softly.“They think it is me they want, they should have no reason to harm ourBranwen.”

“That ‘tis true, but they are known to kill all in their path, the brutes thatthey are. It is good to have another plan at all times, and in all situations, doyou not agree?”  “Yes, I agree. But why did we not swim away while we had a chance yetto escape?” she questioned him.“We have gone over this, I will not raise Branwen in a family that runsconstantly away from their enemies.” “Yes, yes, I guess that would be a bad family environment. No friends, constantly on the run. Yes, it is a sacrifice, but we can be together again inthe time of Forever. Yes, that is good. I’m sure you both will find me there,” she drifted to where he sat in a bench of seaweeds, her tail returning afterthe birth of their daughter.“I will miss you constantly, I know you will not, for you could not. But Iwill, and I will always tell our daughter stories of you, though she will neverbe able to remember you,” he whispered into her ear.“I do not doubt that you will not miss me, and I have an idea that I will beable to miss you, even though where I will go where no one could miss. Butwith our love, I know I will be able to.” “Please do not miss me, I do not wish for you to miss. Just hope, for thefuture. Our daughter will bring an end to the Dark Ones; she will bringAtlantis back to us. All will be good for your sacrifice. For
our
sacrifice.” He kissed her forehead. Oh how she wished their time together wouldnever end. She wished she would be able to watch her daughter grow. Tosee her daughter’s first friend, first boyfriend, and even her first child. Butshe would not.A while later, they heard the sound of far away yelling, carried by thecurrent to them.“Their almost here,” he whispered into her hair. She lifted Branwen out of her seaweed crib and held her until she couldsee Them in the distance. While waiting, she told all her secrets to herdaughter, all the things that the Prophecy said would come true when shewas born, and about how they would be together again in the time of Forever.“I love you,” Jotape said, kissing the back of her head. She turned, and hekissed her on the lips, softly. It would be their last kiss shared in the world of Ceres.

“I will always love you,” she answered.“I will too, and I will keep our daughter safe, and make sure that she findsher Calling. Do not doubt me in that,” he seemed to try to convince himself.“I have no doubt concerning you or her, but make sure that They thinkyou both dead, it will be better for the both of you that way, easier.” “Yes, with her power, that will be easy to accomplish. We will escape afterThey leave with you.” Then with a sudden jolt of warm water, they knew the Dark Ones wereclose, very close.“I think we should take care of the Prophecy once and for all!” they heardthe voice of the Leader. They then heard the answering shout of the Others screaming, “YES!” All of a sudden, things got blurry. They were everywhere, attacking. TheLeader was chasing Vavina into a rocky cliff, spraying her with the burningwater coming from The Wand of Fire. Some of Them were hitting Jotape, and he saw that Branwen had gottenburned. Though he knew that she could heal herself, he screamed at them tostop hitting her as well, and started fighting back. One fell back, wounded. And another took his place. Fighting is much slower in the water, so it waslike watching a fight sequence in slow motion. With one hit to his stomach, and another to his head, he backed away, blood staining the water around him. And feinting death, he started relaxinghis body. Floating away from the scene now below him, he watched threwhalf-closed eyes Them carrying his wife away. Leaving his daughter floatingin the seaweed’s. Blood gushing around her as well. When he was sure that they were gone far enough, and that there was nospies left lurking around. He began to swim back towards his daughter. When he reached her, he picked her up, and started swimming away fromthere.Branwen started to cry, wanting food and probably more hungry from lossof blood.“Shh, shh, we’ll get you some food, don’t worry.” She looked up into his eyes and cooed. He reached his friends seaweed house after a few minutes of swimmingslowly, tired and dizzy. “Hello? Is anyone here? Helooo?”
