The Book of Proverbs
Chapter 05
Proverbs 5: Warning against Adultery and whoredom. In this lesson, we cover the
fleshly sin of fornication and the spiritual sin of idolatry.
The two key commandments of this chapter written by the finger of God:
Exodus 20:3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth:
Exodus 20:5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD
thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exodus 20:6And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my
commandments.
And also:
Exodus 20:14Thou shalt not commit adultery.
That is the theme of Proverbs chapter 05. All sexual sins are covered.

Proverbs 5:1My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: Proverbs 5:2That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. Proverbs 5:3For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is

smoother than oil:
To the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet:
Proverbs
27:7
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter
thing is sweet.
That why lust is a sin.
Matthew
5:27
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit
adultery:
Matthew
5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her
hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Proverbs 5:4But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
The strange woman is the woman that is other than a wife.
When applied figuratively in scripture, the strange woman is a woman that is of the
people who God forbid his chosen people to mingle with because of their idolatry.
I Kings
11:1
But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of
Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and
Hittites;
I Kings
11:2

Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

I Kings
11:3
And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and
his wives turned away his heart.
Those who promote spiritual adultery are roots that bear gall and wormwood:
Deuteronomy
29:14
Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
Deuteronomy
29:15
But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our
God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
Deuteronomy
29:16
(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came
through the nations which ye passed by;
Deuteronomy
29:17
And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone,
silver and gold, which were among them:)
Deuteronomy
29:18

Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe,
whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and
serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that
beareth gall and wormwood;

Deuteronomy
29:19

And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he
bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the
imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

Deuteronomy
29:20

The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

- Deuteronomy 29:18 let\u2019s us know that any man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods are roots that bear gall and wormwood.

- You\u2019ll know a tree by its fruits.
Matthew 7:20
