Proverbs 17
 Justice & Judgment 
Pr17:1
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting andconflict.
Proverbs 15:17
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatredtherewith.
A stalled ox is a fattened calf.
Pr17:2
A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of theinheritance among the brethren.
Children should be there for their parents when they become strickenwith age. It is unnatural for children to want their parents to hurry upand die for the purpose of lessening the burden or getting their greedylittle hands on an inheritance or insurance money.
Proverbs19:26
He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son thatcauseth shame, and bringeth reproach.
 This is a re-occurring theme in the book of Proverbs: Children can becrowns or they can be baggage.
Proverbs10:5
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest isa son that causeth shame.
Rehoboam caused shame by following bad advice and split the kingdom.Rehoboam refused to reform the abuses, therefore the servant of Solomon, Jeroboam ruled over ten tribes. This was part of God’s plan:

Pr17:3
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
 The word “Silver” is used twelve times in the book of Proverbs:
I Chronicles29:17
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure inuprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willinglyoffered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
Psalm 26:2
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Jeremiah17:10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every manaccording to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

In the resurrection, God will refine our hearts like silver and purify themlike gold. What God finds when He tries out hearts depends on how welive on this side of life.
 
Zechariah13:9
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, andI will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD ismy God.
He will be like a refiner's fire. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver;

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: andthe Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even themessenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saiththe LORD of hosts.

A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
 The ears of Wrongdoers & liars eagerly listen to gossip. You will know aperson by their diet. What do they feed upon?

Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
 Two crowns for those with age:
Proverbs16:31
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Hoary head = Gray with age. The first time the word “crown” is used in scripture was in Genesis 49:26when Jacob gave a blessing to Joseph. Jacob adopted the children of  Joseph and gave them part of the inheritance among Jacob’s twelvesons. Manasseh and Ephraim are the crowns of Jacob and the glory of
