 Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day1.The light of nature shows that there is a God, who hath lordship andsovereignty over all; is just, good, and doth good unto all; and is therefore tobe feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all theheart, and all the soul, and with all the might.
 
Jeremiah10:7
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuchas among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none likeunto thee.
Mark 12:32
And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God;and there is none other but he:
Mark 12:33
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul,and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
But the acceptable way of worshipping the true God, is instituted by Himself,
Deuteronomy12:32
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto,nor diminish from it.
and so limited by His own revealed will, that He may not be worshipped according tothe imagination and devices of men, or the suggestions of Satan, under any visiblerepresentations, or any other way, not prescribed in the Holy Scriptures.
Exodus20:4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is inheaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exodus20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third andfourth generation of them that hate me;
Exodus20:6
And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
 
2.Religious worship is to be given to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and toHim alone;
Matthew4:8
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him allthe kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Matthew4:9
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down andworship me.
Matthew4:10
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worshipthe Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
John6:22
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that therewas none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and thatJesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

3.Prayer and thankfulness, being one special part of natural worship, is by Godrequired of all men.
Psalm95:1

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
