What is Your Attitude towards the Bible
In this discussion, I want to look at what the bible teaches about the bible. The bible is thesource of all Christian theology. It is important as Christians that we know what our authority is when it comes to our belief so that we can earnestly contend for the faithwhich was once delivered unto the saints. Can we answer the question; why do we believe what we believe? Our eternal destiny depends on the truth.
Points
1.Jesus is the object of faith in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.2.Those that do not believe on the name of the Son of God are condemned.3.An orthodox view of the bible when it comes to biblical interpretation is the viewthat every word of God is pure and is our protection against deception asChristians.
John3:14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
John3:15
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever  believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the worldthrough him might be saved.
John3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not iscondemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begottenSon of God.The holy scriptures tell us without a doubt how to get eternal life:
John17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and JesusChrist, whom thou hast sent. Before we start looking at some of the different attitudes towards the bible, let’s start bylooking at definitions of some of the terms used in the bible.
A. Terminology
There are four major terms that I want to define in this study.1. Bible
βιβλ
ον
 Biblion
(bib-lee'-on);Word Origin: Greek, Noun Neuter, Strong #: 975

1.a small book, a scroll, a written document2.a sheet on which something has been writtena.a bill of divorcement
KJV Word Usage and Count
book 29 bill 1scroll 1writing 1The word biblion is used for books or writings in general not just sacred books. In Luke4:17 we see the book of the prophet Isaiah called a bible or a biblion.
Luke4:17
And there was delivered unto him
the book
of the prophet Esaias. And when hehad opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Luke4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach thegospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preachdeliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at libertythem that are bruised,
Luke4:19
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. The Greek word “Biblion” is used for the word book. The book of Isaiah is called a biblein the bible, but it’s also called scripture. Jesus follows up by calling the book of Isaiahscripture.
Luke4:20
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. Andthe eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luke4:21
And he began to say unto them, This day is
this scripture
fulfilled in your ears.2. Scripture

KJV Word Usage and Count
scripture 51The word scripture refers to the sacred and holy writings in the bible. The word scriptureis not just referring to writings in general, but the sacred word of God in writing. Theword scripture is used by Romans 3:2 and II Timothy 3:16 when referring to the OldTestament and II Peter 3:16 when referring to Paul’s writings.
II Timothy
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured

3:14
of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
II Timothy3:15
And that
from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures
, which are ableto make thee wise unto
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.II Timothy3:16All scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
II Timothy3:17
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all goodworks.Salvation comes through faith in Christ Jesus, and the holy scriptures in the OldTestament testify to that. As a matter of fact, every time the New Testament refers to theLaw, or the prophets, or any Old Testament scriptures, there is an emphasis put on thefact that Jesus is the object of faith in all the scriptures.
Luke24:25
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe
all that the prophetshave spoken:Luke24:26
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Luke24:27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all thescriptures the things concerning himself.
Bible prophecy authenticates the sovereignty of God.
John5:39Search the scriptures
; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which
testify of me.
Bible prophecy equips humanity for the days in which they live.
Acts10:43
To him give
all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth inhim shall receive remission of sins.Acts10:44
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard theword.
Worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Acts18:27
And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciplesto receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed throughgrace:
Acts18:28
For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly,
showing by the scriptures thatJesus was Christ.
Bible prophecy saves souls.
I Corinthians15:3
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that
Christdied for our sins according to the scriptures;I Corinthians15:4
And that he was buried, and that
he rose again the third day according to thescriptures:I Corinthians15:5
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
I Corinthians15:6
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom thegreater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
The Old Testament scriptures testify of Jesus, and that is the point being made throughoutthe bible. Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. But there are some who want to take thesescriptures to try discredit the New Testament from being called scripture. Satan wants to
