Objectives
1.
God used the suffering of His Servant to bring healing and salvation to His people.2.The Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53 represents Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.3.The Suffering Servant was inflicted with pain and death because of the sins anddisobedience of all human beings.

Isaiah 53Isaiah53:1
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
John12:34
The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Sonof man?
John12:35
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk whileye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darknessknoweth not whither he goeth.
John12:36
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
John12:37
But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not onhim:

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord,who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord beenrevealed?

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not seewith their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I shouldheal them.
John12:41
These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
John12:42
 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of thesynagogue:
John12:43
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Romans10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring gladtidings of good things!
 
Romans10:16
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Romans10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Isaiah53:2
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: hehath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that weshould desire him.
 This addresses Jesus’ humanity
Isaiah11:1
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shallgrow out of his roots:
Isaiah11:2
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom andunderstanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Isaiah11:3
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and heshall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Isaiah11:4
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for themeek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, andwith the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
 The Pharisees weren’t able to recall Isaiah chapter 11 or chapter 53:
Matthew22:41
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Matthew22:43
He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

 Jesus is the root and the offspring of David
Revelation22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in thechurches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright andmorning star.
Isaiah53:3
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and wehid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah53:4
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,smitten of God, and afflicted.
Prophecy Fulfilled
Matthew8:14
And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid,and sick of a fever.

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, andministered unto them.

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessedwith devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that
 
were sick:
Matthew8:17
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Isaiah53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: thechastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
I Peter2:21
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leavingus an example, that ye should follow his steps:
I Peter2:22
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatenednot; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and theLORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as alamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not hismouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was hestricken.

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare hisgeneration? for his life is taken from the earth.
