1 Executive Summary
The IBM CSC Kenya 1 Team was assigned the work of defining a strategy,identifying key IT enabled services and creating an enablement plan for theDigital Villages Project, as envisioned by the Kenya ICT Board (KICTB).The Digital Village Project supports Kenya’s Vision 2030 and addresses thedisparity between urban and rural areas through Government e-services delivery,ICT training and enablement and job creation and revenue generation. TheDigital Village ecosystem includes various CBOs (Community BasedOrganisations) , NGOs, Telcos, churches, co-operatives, development partners,cyber-cafés and Pasha centres. The Pasha centres are a critical subset of theDigital Village Project and are supposed to be the flagship/centre of excellencefor other Digital Villages to emulate. They are also expected to have distinct andinfluential role in overall Digital Village strategy. The Pasha centres are driven byKICTB and funded by the World Bank. The target is to have 210 Pasha centresby the end of 2012 (one per constituency).The IBM CSC Kenya 1 Team consists of 11 team members, who were dividedinto three subgroups to achieve the objective defined above:
