ERIC ELEY: COINCIDENT DISRUPTION TRANSIENCE: IMPERFECT, IMPERMANENT, INCOMPLETE - AN EXHIBITION BY MARILYN JOLLY, MELBA NORTHUM AND SUSAN SITZES WALTER NELSON: GRAFFITI ON ASPEN TREES – NATURE VS. MAN The MAC is proud to present three new exhibitions in January 2012. Eric Eley: Coincident Disruption; a collaborative exhibition by Marilyn Jolly, Melba Northum and Susan Sitzes titled Transience: Imperfect, Impermanent, Incomplete; Walter Nelson: Graffiti on Aspen Trees – Nature vs. Man. An opening reception with the artists will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at The MAC galleries, located at 3120 McKinney Avenue, in the Uptown District of Dallas. Exhibitions will be on view through February 18, 2012.

Come support your favorite blue gallery with our fabulous holiday fundraiser featuring original ornaments hand-crafted by artists and patrons. Dance to the rhythms of The Meadows World Music Ensemble! Get your shopping done early at our bountiful silent auction and enjoy beer, wine, food, a bake sale, coffee bar and our infamous Blue Mystery Punch! Ornament artists will be awarded a $50 prize for their creativity in each of three categories; Most Festive, Most Divine and Most Outrageous. Honorary ornament judges are Susan Matusewicz, MAC Board President, Tina Parker, Director of Kitchen Dog Theater and Lisa Hees, MAC Director. Festivities begin in the heart of Uptown at 5:30 and lasts until 7:30 on Saturday, December 3. Early birds will have the best choice of ornaments! Blue Yule supports The MAC by raising funds for 2012’s artistic and educational programming.

The MAC is proud to present three new exhibitions collectively titled Nobody Knows My Name: The African American Experience in American Culture. The artists are Laura Jean Lacy, Robert Pruitt and Angelbert Metoyer. Utilizing found objects and artisticelements combined with social messages inspired by African American literature, the three dynamic artists continue the mandate of African American philosopher and scholar Alain Locke. Locke encouraged African American artists who were primarily engage inthe Harlem Renaissance to look to Africa as an inspiration to create an honest aesthetic expression to identify and define the state of African American culture. He encouraged artists to depict African and African American subjects and draw on their history for subject matter. The exhibition provides a myriad of visual perspectives focusing on the conscious and unconscious issues of racism and identity created in a contradictious democracy.The opening reception will be Saturday, February 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the MAC galleries, located at 3120 McKinney Avenue, which is in the Uptown District of Dallas.
