Airborne Pistol Marksmanship TrainingByAnthony J. Fejfar, B.A. , J.D., Esq., Coif ©Copyright 2010 by Anthony J. Fejfar In learning to shoot a pistol accurately, you must first learn the appropriate stance. For a right handed shooter, your left foot points to the left at a 90 degree angle from your right foot, which points forward. You point your right arm forward in line with your right foot. You should try to point your right foot at your target. (See Figure 1) This willalign your pistol arm with an aim at the target. Close your left eye and sight down your arm aligned with the pistol sight. Hold your breath and exhale slowly. You then gentlysqueeze the trigger. Do not jerk the trigger. After each shot, realign the pistol if youneed to adjust your aim. Do not use the Police FBI pistol stance to shoot your pistol.(See Police FBI stance, Figure 2). The Police FBI stance is more unstable and makesyour body a bigger target for the enemy than the side stance. (Figure 1).
