Santa Fe, New Mexico – Lisa Kern, a massage therapist, therapeutic and cranio sacral therapist at Utopia Massage inSanta Fe, recently joined the ranks of more than 60,000 massage therapists and bodyworkers currently certified bythe National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB). Lisa passed the NCBTMBcertification examination on December 16, 2002 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.The National Certification Examination in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is developed through extensiveresearch by industry experts in anatomy, physiology, massage, and bodywork therapy, assessment and techniques,and business and professional ethics. The Nationally Certified in the Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB), credential established the practitioner as having mastered a core of the basic knowledge required to practice massage therapy and bodywork. Nationally Certified practitioners have also agreed to abide by a Code of Ethics.As Whitney Lowe, NCTMB Chairperson, Board of Directors, says, “Passing this exam means that a massagetherapist or bodyworker has mastered the basic professional levels of knowledge essential for performing massageand effective programs of therapy for clients, responding to typical questions and problems that arise in a session.”The NCTMB is a not-for-profit organization committed to fostering high standards of ethical and professional practice in the delivery of services and the competency of practitioners of therapeutic massage and bodywork.
