abi-Ul-Awwal is the third month of the

Islamic Calendar. The meaning of the word
“Rabi-Ul-Awwal” is the first month of spring.
It is the most significant month in the Islamic
History, because humanity has been blessed in
this month by the birth of the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (saw) who was sent as a mercy for all
and departed from this world 63 years later.

Before the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(saw), not only the Arabian Peninsula, but also the
so-called civilized nations of Rome and Persia were
drowned in the darkness of ignorance, superstitions,
oppression and unrest. The Holy Prophet (saw) came with the eternal truth “Tawheed” (Oneness of Allah), the only faith
which provides a firm basis for the real concepts of knowledge, justice and peace. It was this faith which delivered
humanity from ignorance and superstitions and spread the light of true knowledge all over the world.

Many other significant events took place in Rabi-Ul-Awwal such as:

♦The Holy Prophet (saw) migrated from Makkah to Madinah Munawwarrah.
♦The battle of Buwaat took place in the year 2 AH.
♦Battle of Saf’waan also took place in the year 2 AH.
♦Abu Bakr’ (ra) was appointed Caliph.

R
In the Name of Allah,
the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful.
Assalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu

When I look upon this month it reminds me of the importance of the Sunnah which our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) bestowed upon our lives. Yes! it is the month of the birth of the Holy Prophet (saw), but it should be looked at as a reminder of what our beloved Prophet (saw) came to do for us. This Sunnah is the essence of our livelihood and should be implemented daily.

In this Issue I have chosen to enlighten you about the early history of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) and to allow you to ponder over some of the wonderful characteristics of the people in his life.

With this in mind we should all reflect upon the time we spend in the path of Allah (swt) and utilise some of that time attending classes and lectures provided by the GIYC Centre on a regular basis. For the latest ‘happenings’ check out our updated timetable on:

2007 Ladies Rejuvenation Day

What a relaxing day it was! The Rejuvenation Day happens every year around this time
and is purely a day set aside for ladies wishing to give themselves a break and unwind.
We had such a wonderful time rejuvenating our bodies. The ladies enjoyed pampering
sessions such as facials, foot spa’s and hand treatments as well as a visit from a top
hairdresser. Not to forget we also had a henna applying specialist who gave the ladies
a little something to take home to the husbands. The day was so relaxing that we
couldn’t carry ourselves home.
On behalf of the GIYC Ladies Shura “we would like to thank all the ladies” who
contributed their services to this special day. Without your contribution this day would
not have been as special as it was. For those who missed out, you really missed a great day.
Hope to see you at 2008 Rejuvenation Day, Insha Allah.

Dubai Visit

Every year at this time in Dubai there is a Expo named Dihad (Dubai International Humanitarian Aid Development).
The purpose of this Expo is to give all Islamic and Humanitarian Organisations around the world a chance to meet
other organisations as well as expose their own centres. The Administrator of GIYC Zunaid Moosa and fellow
companions will leave on Saturday 31st March 2007 for Dubai to be part of this Expo. The purpose for this two week
visit is to expose the GIYC around the world as well as try to obtain funding from other organisations. Our men will
take this opportunity to gather information from leading Humanitarian Organisations and bring this information back to
Australia to improve the GIYC in any way and Insha Allah succeed in building a new premises. We ask the community
to make duah for these men that they may be successful in their efforts and we ask Allah (swt) to return them home
safely Insha Allah.
