Deep within the concept of democracy laysa major assumption which in itself has veryimportant repercussions: that all citizens areequals.Therefore in order to arrive at a workingmodel of democratic principles which wouldlack relevant defects one should resort to ahypothetical population, which for examplecould be the economic middle class of anadvanced country after reducing it to a selectgroup of individuals all of them equippedwith a comparable level of higher education,regarding the resulting compact populationas the one to be considered for a democracy.A crucial effect of the democratic conceptover such select group, prior to even gettingto the individuals’ human make up, race,ethnicity, gender, etcetera, is that there is noneed within such group for anyone to be the political ruler, anyone can take any office because within the group no one has specialneeds and that is a fact which would perhaps be overlooked unless the individual in needturns to be the ruler.
