The Act requires that you transmit thisreport within thirty days to the appropriate Congressional committees andsubcommittees, along with any comments you may wish to make.Our efforts this period continued to advance both OIG

s mis-sionand goals, through a carefully designed program of audits, investigations and reviewsintended to help managers administer their programs and carry out their over-sightresponsibilities more efficiently, effectively and economically. We continue to work with Department managers to help them resolve financial and systems problems, andhave issued a number of audit reports and action memorandums to assist them in thisregard.I look forward to continuing to work with you and Department managers as we seek to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of Education Department programsand operations.Sincerely,John P.
