Getting Started
The very first step towards creating a website does not even involve your computer.1.
The Initial Thought
- Turn off the television, go into a quiet room and startthinking. If this website will be used to promote your established business then of course you can skip this step. Come up with a general idea of what you want your site to be about. It is better to create a website about something that you know atleast a little about and most importantly something that you enjoy.2.
Keywords
– Once you have a general idea of what your website will be aboutyou will need to establish some keywords.
If you do not particularly care if theSearch Engines find your site then you can skip this step
.-Think of the main ‘keywords’ you will be targeting. These keywords arethe main words or phrases that your site is about. When or if you promoteyour website these are the keywords that you will be using for your link text, more about promotion later.-These keywords should not be too broad. For instance, if you used themain keyword ‘computer’ it would take A LOT of promotion to beat thecompetition. You want to find a keyword that does not have a hugeamount of competition but on the other hand one that people will searchfor. So, if your site is about computers, you may want to choose akeyword like ‘Computer Product Reviews’ or ‘Gateway Computer Accessories’, something very relevant to the theme of your site.-Choose one single keyword that you think is the most relevant to your siteidea but does not have an Enormous amount of competition and write itdown.3.
Domain Availability and Registration
– Now that you have an idea of whatyour site will be about and you have thought of the right keyword; you need toregister your very own website domain. There is no explanation necessary for registration. Just think of registration as actually buying the domain. Just keep inmind, if you do not continue the yearly payment of $5.99 then the domain will beavailable to anyone.

Quick Tip
I will be using the acronym ‘URL’ throughout this e-book so I will let you know what it is.URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the actual web address of a domain. For example,Googles URL is http://www.google.com.
