ISO DETAILS

ISO is an acronym, which stands for International Organization for Standardisation established in 1946. Its’ headquarter is in Geneva, Switzerland with over 100 member countries.

According to ISO officials, the organization’s short name was borrowed from the Greek word ISOS meaning EQUAL. ISOS is also the root of the prefix ISO. In an attempt to make sense of the ISO name, many have misconstrued the organization’s full name to be the International Standards Organization.
